This annual event commemorates the original GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender) Pride Rally that was held in 1969 in response to the famous Stonewall Riots which began the modern gay rights movement.
Enjoy an afternoon featuring several celebrity performers and speakers at the park´s bandshell.

Singer, actor and activist Harry Belafonte is joined by civic leader Earl Fowlkes and Edith Windsor --- the lesbian widow whose court fight may overturn the Defense Of Marriage Act --- as the grand marshals for this year’s march.
The march is a celebration of the city’s GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender) community in a colorful tradition that dates back to 1970. The march begins at 5th Avenue & 36nd Street and travels to Christopher & Greenwich Street.
The popular festival will take place on Hudson Street between Abingdon Square and West 14th Street, where the public can enjoy food, activities, booths, celebrities and live music performances.
