Take part in an interactive discussion and sildeshow on the 2012 Quebec student uprising by Stefan Christoff, author of the recent booklet "Le fond de l´air est rouge."
Begun in February 2012, thousands of students in the Canadian province of Quebec protested a proposed increase in university tuition. Protests ended in September of that year after a tuition freeze was announced.
Christoff who was an active participant in the Quebec strike movement, has been heavily involved in social justice struggles in Canada and internationally for over a decade. For more information, call (212) 242-4201. |

Distinguished author, archivist and collector Dr. Stanley B. Burns will speak about how postmortem photography shaped American culture in the 19th century.
Photography of the dead was a common practice in the 19th and early 20th centuries, a way for mourners to visually “embalm” their loved ones. Dr. Burns has amassed the most comprehensive collection of this genre in the world and published three books on the subject.

A group of experts discuss the pioneering work of Jack Goldstein.
Jack Goldstein´s (1945 - 2003) paintings transformed, restaged and remade films in such a way as to strip out specific details, context and function. The exhibit frames Goldstein as a central figure of the Pictures Generation of the 1970s and 1980s and showcases his influential paintings and films, while also including installations, ephemera, writings and pioneering sound recordings.

Former and current members of Limon Dance lead this program teaching movement and dance to all ages and levels.
